Ingredients
- 450g elbow macaroni
- 4 tbsp butter
- 4 tbsp flour
- 3 cups milk
- 3 cups shredded sharp cheddar
- 1 cup gruyère (optional)
- Salt, pepper, mustard powder
Instructions
- Cook macaroni until al dente; drain.
- Melt butter, whisk in flour to make a roux, cook 1 minute.
- Gradually whisk in milk, cook until thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in cheese until melted; season with salt, pepper, and mustard powder.
- Combine with pasta and serve, or top with breadcrumbs and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 15-20 minutes.
